Come help us celebrate the iconic site that introduced "Boo-Waa!" to the world!
Here at Hyner view we camp and land next to the Susquahanna river. Pitch a tent, roll up a trailer, or just wrap yourself in a rug. Fly all day, chill out in the river, hoist a mug around the camp fire. We are a tight knit group who loves strangers and will give you a warm welcome. A celebratory feast at dusk on Saturday is included with your monthly membership.
Read about Hyner history in the upcoming USHPA Mag article.
Membership for this fly-in (assessed by domicile):
Hyner is not suitable for Cross Country flying. We may sponsor duration and altitude contests.
Hyner should not be the first mountain site for H2/P2. If unsure of your skills, please contact one of the mentors on the H2 P2 info page. They will be happy to discuss whether you are ready to fly Hyner.

Directions to Launch: Entering "Hyner View State Park" in a navigator will get you straight to launch if you drive all the way to the top. Hyner Run State park is at the base of the mountain, and 100 yards from that is Hyner View Road to the top.
Directions from Launch to LZ:Drive back down the mountain. At the bottom turn left onto Hyner Run road. Continue through the intersection with rt 120 across the railroad tracks and follow the road as it bends to the left. After 3 houses will be a gravel road to the left: follow this up the little hill and turn left into the parking lot.
Protocols: Pilots must be members of both USHPA and the Hyner Club (monthly memberships are available). This is our only site that does not require first time guidance by a club member, but making contact and discussing the site is requested. All accidents MUST be reported immediately to the club president who will report to the State Forest and Parks department.

Emergencies: Cell phone service is available on nearly all carriers both at launch and in the LZ. The nearest hospital is in Renovo: take 120 north into Renovo. In the center of town take 144 across the bridge, then the first left. Follow this to the hospital.
Flight Guidance:
Hyner is primarily a thermal site, but the bowl off the slope launch can generate initial ridge lift, and in west winds the longer ridge that follows the river can sustain flight. Much of the surrounding land is forested, with few alternate landing zones. Pilots are advised that the site is not suitable for XC flights, and all flying should occur within range of the primary or secondary LZ. Storms down the valley can funnel winds miles away, so launching should be avoided if distant storms are seen.
Hang Gliding Launch Guidance:
The launch options divide into the NW slope (with a 30 degree range of launch directions) and the west ramp launch. The launch criterion differ.
